Humans often behave like tourists in nature: enchanted by its wonders, they observe it from a distance, forgetting they are as much a part of it as a fish, a tree, or a bacterium. ilcosmo. stems from this reflection and presents itself as a digital space for exploring biodiversity, starting from ourselves — as interconnected elements of a living network.

The platform is based on data from iNaturalist and GloBI, which document ecological interactions between species observed within the boundaries of the Acque Risorgive Reclamation Consortium. These relationships are visualized in a simple way, designed to spark curiosity and encourage open-ended exploration.

Each node represents a species, and each link tells the story of a biological interaction, allowing users to follow endlessly varied paths. The visual and interactive design of ilcosmo. invites users to discover the complexity of life within the Consortium's territory — and beyond — and to recognize, through experience, that every organism is part of a larger system, where no one is the protagonist, but everyone is essential.
