The coin-operated laundromat beneath Rimini's skyscraper is a place of daily transit, where the community shares moments that are different, yet always the same. An ordinary space that welcomes slow gestures, quiet waits, and fleeting encounters.
Il palazzo, il quartiere, la lavanderia is a short film of observational documentary, capturing fragments of everyday life with a patient, silent eye. The camera's gaze is discreet, invisible, almost indifferent. Fixed frames observe without intervening, allowing bodies, habits, and sounds to shape the narrative. The film unfolds through juxtapositions and repetitions, offering monotony as a form of poetry.
In this dry and minimal environment, the soundscape becomes a leading presence. Voices, hums, metallic vibrations weave through the silence, accompanying the images like an invisible thread.
The laundromat reveals itself as a subtle mirror of the neighborhood: a place where solitude becomes collective, and the ordinary turns into a spontaneous choreography of shared gestures.
